Two Malaysians selected for the EY Entrepreneurial Winning Women™ Asia-Pacific Class of 2024 (2024)

  • Business leaders Datuk Anna Teo and Ooi Lay Pheng were among 18 entrepreneurs chosen to join the EY executive leadership program
  • The 2024 class generated a combined revenue of more than US$1.3b and employed more than 6,000 people in 2023

Datuk Anna Teo, Founder and Group CEO of Hernan Corporation Sdn. Bhd.; and Ooi Lay Pheng, Group CEO and Executive Director of L&P Global Berhad, and CEO of Berjayapak Sdn. Bhd.; have been selected for the EY Entrepreneurial Winning Women™️ Asia-Pacific Class of 2024 alongside 16 other founders from Australia, Greater China, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and Sri Lanka.

Datuk Anna is the Founder of Hernan Corporation Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia's largest cold chain manufacturer and a leading exporter of Malaysian durians and durian-inspired products. From 50 employees in 1996, the company's workforce has grown to around 200 employees, with revenue reaching RM100 million in 2022. She aims to expand Hernan's market locally and internationally in the coming years, with a target sales revenue of RM300 million in 2025.

Lay Pheng is the Group CEO and Executive Director of L&P Global Berhad, and CEO of Berjayapak Sdn. Bhd, a leading group of companies that creates integrated packaging solutions for multinational corporations. Her strategic vision has seen the expansion of the group's presence across Southeast Asia and elevated its market capitalization from RM230 million to RM1 billion.

Anna and Lay Pheng were the recipients of the EY Woman Entrepreneur Of The Year award in Malaysia’s EY Entrepreneur Of The Year™️ (EOY) programme in 2022 and 2021, respectively.

EY Entrepreneurial Winning Women™️ is a year-long executive program that identifies and champions a select group of high-potential founders, who have built profitable companies, and provides them with the connections and resources needed to unlock their potential and sustainably scale their companies. The program’s flagship conference will take place in Kuala Lumpur from 22 to 24 July 2024.

The 2024 cohort of entrepreneurs is focused on solving many of our most pressing global challenges across diverse sectors including technology, consumer products, real estate and design, and media and entertainment.
