There is no significant elevation gain, only moderate hills, up and down. The trail meanders through tall fins to a spectacular view of Landscape Arch. Optional: Two easy spur trails to Pine Tree Arch and Tunnel Arch are located between the trailhead and Landscape Arch.

One popular hike at Devil's Lake State Park is hiking the circumference of the lake. It's a flat, scenic 3 mile hike that only takes a couple of hours and that most visitors can do without being all that athletic.

Start at Cronin's yard and make your way towards the mountains on the dirt track – this should take you one to two hours. Climbing grade range

Durrance, a physical 5.6 off-width/wide crack, is the easiest summit route. There are also some other easier single pitches, and at the upper end of the spectrum grades go up to 5.13. In terms of quantity and quality of climbs, the prime grades at Devils Tower are 5.10 and 5.11.

This short circular takes you around the lakes and offers stunning views of the area. The route is flat so you won't need to do any climbing. This is a pleasant walk for those who just want to experience the amphitheatre without having to climb. This 2.5 mile walk should take you just over an hour.

There is free parking at Tidenham Car Park, where the Devil's Pulpit can be walked to in 20 minutes, or there are information signs with various different routes. You can even do a 7.5 mile circular route to Tintern Abbey and Brockweir.

History of the Devil's Thumb Name

It was given its name by Native Americans, specifically the Ute and Arapahoe tribes, who after feuding for decades, settled their differences and buried the Devil, leaving only his thumb exposed as a perpetual reminder of the evils of war.

In 1977, author Jon Krakauer climbed the East Ridge of the Devils Thumb, a feat described in detail in his book Eiger Dreams, Ventures Among Men and Mountains.

Is Devil's Bridge in AZ Worth It? The Devil's Bridge Trail is Sedona, AZ is definitely worth visiting, especially if you want to take your picture on the bridge. It is a relatively easy trail and has great views. I would recommend hiking from the Mescal Trailhead for a more scenic hike if you don't have 4×4 clearance.
