In a world that cheated me... why should I play fair?
~ Steven on his reason why he used MissingNo to bring Miki back.

Steven, stylized as S!3V3N later in the story, is the main antagonist of the Pokémon: Strangled creepypasta series, appearing as the titular main protagonist villain of Strangled Red, the main antagonist of Strangled and Door's Open, and one of the two unseen overarching antagonists of Lost Silver (alongside The Unown King)

He is the obsessed, manic, and monstrous protagonist belonging to a ROM hack of Pokemon: Red.

Although Steven is similar to the canon protagonist of Pokemon: Red and Blue (the protagonists name being Red), the two are confirmed to not be the same character.

He was created by ShadowMaleRenamon on DeviantArt, however all three stories are only accessible through unofficial means.

Personality[]

While not much is known outside of the beginning of the story, Steven is portrayed as an obsessive, introverted man who loves his CHARIZARD (Miki) dearly, and was distraught over her death by his older brother (Mike). After a while of grieving, Steven eventually decides to try to bring Miki back. He does so, by murdering his brother in cold blood, believing that using his soul (via MissingNo.) he can bring her back. While the events are unclear if it succeeded in the first story, in Strangled and Door's open, you can see several distorted Charizards, presumably meaning Stevens plan worked.

Biography[]

Strangled Red[]

Steven was once an ordinary trainer living in Pallet Town's outskirts with his starter Charmander named Miki, alongside his brother Mike. Just like any ordinary Rival Battle, Miki and Mike's Squirtle fought, with Miki being the winner. Steven seems to have already built up a reputation around the town, with Red looking up to Steven, and is currently in a relationship with Daisy Oak.

Like any other game, Professor Oak gave the two brothers Pokédexes as gifts, and wished them luck on their adventure.

The game continued as normal, albeit with a few story changes. Steven's fame spread as he swept through the region, earning his badges. Throughout the adventure, Miki grew as well, growing into a Charizard.

The only notable change during the main gameplay is with Pokémon Tower, with Steven outright refusing to go inside, claiming to have no business there. Other than that, the player continued on as normal.

Steven would defeat the rest of the gym, the Elite Four, and eventually his brother in one final fight before becoming the champion of Kanto.

Back at home, Steven and Mike would have a conversation, with Mike begging the newfound champion to trade Miki with him in order to complete his Pokédex. Steven would reluctantly agree, before a malfunction caused a loud "SNAP!" to be heard, and the game froze. When the narrator turned the game off and on again, the Charizard was missing.

Miki died.

One year later, Steven was at the Pokémon Tower, still mourning over his loss. All the Pokémon obtained on the journey, all of his money, his badges, everything he had ever collected was gone. The previous champion of Kanto had given up, leaving the spot open for some other kid to take.

Steven would shamble around from place to place, absolutely broken over the loss of Miki. Wild Pokémon would leave him be, and the people of Kanto would try to comfort him, to no avail. Eventually, Steven would tire out and go to bed, where he gained a terrible idea.

Steven would swim all the way to Cinnabar Island, where he would encounter "the missing one", MissingNo. With just a single word, MissingNo suddenly joined Steven's party as an item. Steven would swim all the way back to Lavender Town, and used MissingNo on Miki's grave.

It worked, but imperfectly. Miki had become corrupted beyond belief, and is only recognized as "M@#$". This didn't matter one bit to Steven.

Steven would slowly make his way back to his home, and stood at the foot of Mike's bed. Inspecting the menu, the only option that worked read "STRANGLE". The screen cut to black as another sickening "SNAP!" was heard, and the game reset itself to how it was at its beginning.

Strangled[]

An undisclosed amount of time later, should the player inspect the SNES in Red's room after fully completing the game, a new thought comes to Red's head. Asking everyone in town about a rumor of a house on the edge of town will cause a ghost to unlock the way to Steven's house.

It's possible to go inside, but staying in there is ill advised. The longer Red stays, the more text boxes will start to appear, spelling out "GIVE ME BACK MY MIKI!". Should the message be completed, Steven will materialize at the nearest exit, initiating a Pokémon battle.

Steven sends out Miki, corrupted and mangled. It's impossible to win against this encounter, as no attacks will hit her. Running is impossible, as the doors are locked. Steven kills each of Red's Pokémon one by one, with each one being removed from the party after defeat. Once the player inevitably loses, the game shuts itself off.

Rebooting the game after this will cause Red to stare at Miki's grave. Afterwards, the game will continue as normal, with one major exception. Trading is impossible, and attempting to do so will cause the Pokémon from that copy of the game to die the same way Miki did.

Door's Open[]

There is a way to trade Pokémon after this, although the under very specific circ*mstances. Should the player have a Charizard named Miki, the Charizard is able to be transferred over to Pokémon Silver. Once the new "Miki" is sent over to Silver, it will carry an item stating that "Door's Open".

Going back to Bellsprout Tower will reveal a new room, where Steven can be fought.

Steven sends out four different corrupted copies of Miki, each one more deteriorated than the last. Although each Charizard will instantly defeat any Pokémon that is attacked, if hit with the right attacks, the Charizards will fall. A specific set of moves must be used in an exact order to win, being Fire Blast, Mega Kick, Fly, and finally Toxic.

Should the player win, Steven will disappear, leaving behind an item that will cause the holder to become like Miki: Nearly invincible but mangled beyond recognition.

Should the player lose, the path back is obscured by darkness. The player will display the Escape Rope animation before spiraling downwards. The player will reawaken in new room with a party of five Unowns and a Cyndaquil, leading to the events of Lost Silver.

Villainous Acts[]

  • He murdered his older brother in cold blood after he accidentally killed Miki.
  • Due to wanting his beloved CHARIZARD back, It can be presumed that he went on to try to murder more people.
  • in Strangled, we see this foremost, as he attempted to murder the players Pokémon to bring Miki back.
  • In ‘Doors Open’, he tries again. After he fails and leaves, he caves the floor in by unknown means. After this event, the story of Lost Silver begins.
  • While he never appears, Steven is directly responsible for the torture Gold went through during Lost Silver, making him quite a bit worse than he already was.

Trivia[]

  • Steven is stated to look much better than Red, although only a little bit.
  • Steven is the first Creepypasta Pokémon villain to not be a demon, or a pure protagonist.
  • It's possible that Steven is also the main antagonist of Ketsuban, given that the antagonist of said story is described as having the same personality and appearance. However, it's never explicitly confirmed.
  • He appears in the FNF mod ‘Hypnos Lullaby’ as the main antagonist of the song ‘Dissension’.
